Battle Force Tank Weapons

The BFT (Battle Force Tank) is equipped with a total of 18 weapons.

The BFT is by default, equipped with an unlimited supply of Rapid Fire Pulse Guns (RFPG), as well as a High Explosive Mortar Cannon.

Each weapon can be upgraded to a "secondary", and more powerful, weapon.
The launchers are scattered across all 6 campaigns of the game.

Each weapon can only hold a fixed capacity of ammo before maxing out.

These ammo can be picked up on the field by eliminating specific enemies of the weapon it is using.

Click on the name of the weapon to view more information, as well as where it can be found in game.

Welcome!

Hi!

I've been playing Zipper Interactive's Recoil since it first came out, and I still play it occasionally.
For those who have been playing it still, hats off to you, old is gold.

I've compiled some useful information for you Recoilers, and hope that it'll be of use.

I'm still in the midst of compiling data! So check back once in awhile.

You may leave comments if you have anything to ask!

Cheers!

Proximity High Explosive Mine/ Proximity Molecular Distortion Mine

Proximity High Explosive Mine Launcher

The Proximity High Explosive Mine is, from it's name, a large mine that can be tossed from the BFT. The mines are able to bounce around corners, lay motion on the ground, and self-detonated once an enemies comes into close proximity with these mines. The mines create a large crater on the ground, allowing you to sneak into one and quickly toss another. Proximity Mines are a great way to eliminate enemies without exposing yourself. However, these mines might detonate immediately when placed on the ground if an enemy is close-by. The BFT might receive damage from these mines, so check properly before proceeding.

Stats: The HE-Proximity Mine Launcher tosses 2 mines every 3 seconds, with a damage rating of 17, and holds up to 30 mines.

Proximity High Explosive Mines

These Proximity Mines can be found in all campaigns, dropped by VTOL-s, as well as by eliminating Power Planters. These mines can come in a stack of 10, so stocking up on Proximity Mines are usually not a problem.

Proximity Molecular Distortion Mine Launcher

The Proximity Molecular Distortion Mine Launcher serves the same way the HE-Proximity Mine Launcher does, except for the murky traces it leaves when it detonates. Having mostly the same features of the HE-Proximity Mines, these mines are much more powerful, but having a slower launch rate.

Stats:

The Proximity Molecular Distortion Mine Launcher fires 2 mines per 3 seconds, with a damage rating of 20. These mines can only stack up to 15.

Proximity Molecular Distortion  Mines

These Proximity Molecular Distortion Mines can be found in campaigns 2 to 6, they can be obtained from VTOL-s, but are not dropped by Power Planters.

Locations:

Proximity High Explosive Mine Launcher :

The HE-Mine Launcher can be found in 2 locations in campaign one.
The launcher is hidden in the lighthouse during mission 1, just left of the BFT prior to the beginning of the campaign.
After destroying the lighthouse, head towards the beach and locate the pinkish barrel-like structure on the ground and use it as a ram. Once you have gathered enough speed, drive towards the barrel and you will launch yourself up the platform. Another alternative is by launching a HE-Mortar on the ground, using the crater formed as a form of ram. After succeeding on jumping up onto the platform, slowly move towards the launcher, but be weary of the steep terrain ; you might fall into the water! Grab a Nano-Canister from either the crane that has a crate hanging from it, or from the drainage area near the force field power control. If you happen to fall in the water, hurry and circle the platform of the lighthouse, and make your way back to shore.

Location A of HE-Proximity Mine Launcher, Island Storm
Location B is located before the second mission. After hitting the blue switches that grants entry to the missile command posts, the giant door will slowly lowers itself. The pathway between you and the new area of the command post has a wired mesh on the ground. Destroying it will allow you to drop down into the 'basement'. After eliminating a few enemies, you'll see the HE-Proximity Mine Launcher just by the corner.

Location B of HE-Proximity Mine Launcher, Island Storm

Proximity Molecular Distortion Mine Launcher:

The launcher is located at campaign 2, before mission one, with two possible ways go from there.
If you're afraid on missing out on this upgraded version of the HE-Proximity mine, you may towards the north east of the network lab. By sticking close to the walls of the mountains towards the left side, you will notice that there is an opening in the mountain side, just close to the water. You can make a quick jump into the water and track towards dry land. Through a little bit of inspecting, you will find the mine launcher in the middle of the pathway. After obtaining the weapon, you may make your way down towards the path to continue your mission.

The second method, involves having exploring this area once you're equipped with the amphibious technology. During mission 4, from the foundry, you may swim straight towards the opening of the lake, making a right turn before hitting the mountain. You'll encounter a Napalm Turret, and an odd structure there. Swimming towards that direction will lead you to the same location.

Trivia!

-The mines appear to be very small in size, but upon launching, they grow in size, almost 3x it's normal size.
-These mines have limited range of which they can be tossed, often the cross heirs not functioning as well as other projectile weapons like mortars and missiles. This makes it extremely hard to toss mines far. However, pointing the cross hairs up and driving the BFT forward to give a little momentum seems to have an additional distance effect on these mines.
-The mines sometimes explode when enemies are nearby, but no visible, causing recoil damage to the BFT.
-HE-Proximity Mines and mines planted by the Power Planter cannot be differentiated. The only way to differentiate is only by stepping on one.
-The mine launcher uses the same look for all 4 mines in the game, proximity and remote. It would only be logical if the BFT could use one launcher to launch all the 4 different types of mines, rather than finding the specific launchers to perform such functions.
-Proximity Mines can be used to substitute remote mines in mission 4 of campaign 4, Cold Kill Chaos, whereby instead of tossing remote mines into the power plant's vents, you can toss Proximity Mines. However, missing the vent will result in the mines self-detonating.

Napalm Cannon/ Freon Cannon

Napalm Cannon

The Napalm Cannon, is a flamethrower weapon that fires bursts of flames at enemies. It eats away HP, slowly but surely. Napalms are usually accompanied by shots of ERFPGs, an effective way of killing low health enemies when you're low on ammo, or sniping one from far.

Stats: The Napalm Cannon fires at rate of 3 bursts per second, having a damage rating of 2, while carrying a maximum of 99 tanks on board.

Napalm Ammo

Napalm Tanks can be found on all 6 stages of the campaign, from VTOL packages, as well as from defeating Fire Starters. Napalm Tanks usually comes in a bundle of 10 tanks, refilling the BFT with sufficient firepower to kick start another found of inferno.

Freon Cannon

The Freon Cannon, the opposite of the Napalm Cannon, throws freezing shots across the battlefield, upon contact with a few of these causes the vehicle to come to a freeze. The vehicle remains immobile for a period of time, only thawing out after a few seconds. Continuous shots from the Frozen Rover can render the BFT frozen, and then destroyed. It's an effective weapon to pair with ERFPGs, pairing these two weapons causes instant death. Ramming an enemy whilst frozen can shatter them as well.

Stats:

The Freon Cannon fires 4 shots of Freon, slightly faster than the Napalm Cannon, with an attack rating of 9, and a maximum capacity of 99 tanks.

Freon Ammo

The Freon Burst Tank can be found in campaigns 3 to 6, collected from the VTOL, or by eliminating the Frozen Rovers. Each ammo, like the Napalm, usually comes in a bundle of 10.
.

Location:

Napalm Cannon:

The Napaln Cannon can be found during the second mission of campaign one. The cannon is located at the lower right area of the trench, facing from the command post's perspective. The cannon is guarded by a ATK-77, so bear in mind before picking up this flaming weapon.

Location for Napalm Cannon, Island Storm

Freon Cannon:

The Freon Cannon can be found on campaign 3. It can be retrieved before the second mission. The weapon is hidden behind the mountains leading towards the lava pumps. While travelling towards the lava pumps, there will be several ledges towards the right, beside some small volcanic hills. Cross over those ledges, but be weary of the lava as they'll eat your HP fast! Just towards the right side, you'll see the cannon. But be weary of the Lock-On Launchers and Floating Phantoms, they'll tear a hole in your armor while you're unsuspectingly locating this treasure.
Location for Freon Cannon, Thermal Meltdown
Trivia!
-The Napalm Cannon has a flame sprouting from the tip of the muzzle, while the Freon Cannon doesn't.
-During combat, while using the Napalm Cannon on enemies, the burning flames can still be seen on dead enemies though the have been destroyed, often involving the flame floating on midair.
-The Napalm Cannon doesn't operate underwater on sub-mode. However, if you run out of ammo, the BFT will still switch to the Napalm Cannon, being operational underwater, strangely.
-The Napalm Cannon has a turret the shape of an orb, with a muzzle sprouting out in the middle. It shoots flaming Naplams through the air, burning unsuspecting vehicles travelling through the area.
-The Freon Cannon turns enemies and the BFT to a shade of pale lavender, rendering the vehicles frozen and unable to move. While immobilizing enemies' tanks, you can shatter them into pieces by ramming into them, but the enemy tanks can't perform this feature on the BFT.

Rapid Fire Pulse Guns/ Enhanced Rapid Fire Pulse Guns

Enhanced Rapid Fire Pulse Guns (ERFPG)

Description:

The Enhanced Rapid Fire Pulse Guns (ERFPG), is an upgraded version of the unlimited supply of Rapid Fire Pulse Gun (RFPG), bearing similar resemblance, minus the red color. It has a higher rate of fire, slightly stronger than the RFPG. It has a limited, but high amount of ammo. A few well aimed shots of ERFPG together with a secondary weapon will prove lethal enough to destroy enemies.

Stats:

The ERFPG fires 10 shots per second, with a damage rating of 1, and a max ammunition of 999, having the highest ammo of all weapons in the game stored in the BFT.

ERFPG Ammo

ERFPG ammos can be picked up from the battlefield in all campaigns, from VTOL-s, or from destroying Scouts and Raiders on the field. These ammo usually comes in packs of 50 to 100, easily replenishing your primary weapon.

Locations:

Enhanced Rapid Fire Pulse Guns :
The ERFPG can be found in 2 places, location A straight off the spot where the BFT begins it's mission.
Upon dismounting, turn backwards and fire at all the panel pieces, or windows, on the right side of the shed. The shed will begin to open. Enter the shed and move towards the right, the ERFPG will be at the corner for your immediate use.
Location A for ERFPG

Location B of ERFPG is not far from the location A. Upon turning left after discounting, move towards the force field power control located then on your right, destroy the Raider and the Scout, the force field, and pick up the ERFPG.
Location B for ERFPG

Trivia!

-The RFPG has a slightly 'less powerful' firing sound to it, while the ERFPG seems to pack a more powerful firing sound to it.

-RFPGs and ERFPGs can ricochet off both HE-Mortars and Molecular Distortion Mortars the moment you fire time at a certain angle.

-Combining either the RFPG or ERFPG with another secondary weapon can lead to fast kills, such as Napalm Cannons.

-The ERFPG is used by a few enemies, mainly:
Raider,
Robot Defense Unit X-1000,
ERFPG Turrets in several campaigns,
Helicopter,
Power Plant A's giant turret
Central Core's Triangular Turret.

High Explosive Mortar Cannon/ Molecular Distortion Mortar Cannon

High Explosive Mortar Cannon

Description:

The HE-Mortar Cannon comes equipped to your BFT the moment the game begins.
This weapon has the capabilities of wiping out Scouts and Raiders with a well aimed shout between them, as well as creating craters on the ground by firing one on a tactical spot.

Stats:

The HE-Mortar Cannon fires 2 rounds per 3 seconds, with an attack rating of 12, having a max ammunition of 30 rounds.

High Explosive Mortar Ammo

HE-Mortar ammos can be found lying around on the battlefield, dropped by the VTOL, or dropped by a ATK-77 (Armored Tank Killer).

Molecular Distortion Mortar Cannon

The Molecular Distortion Mortar Cannon boasts similarity to the HE-Mortar Cannon, with the exception of higher damage rating, as well as the ability to leave murky traces of distortion on the ground, rendering enemies who drive past it to a crawl. With proper planning and aim, you can slow down the enemies, and attack them while they helplessly crawl out of the trap.

Stats:

The Molecular Distortion Mortar Cannon has a fire rate of 1 round per 2 seconds, with an attack rate of 17, and carries a maximum of 15 mortars on board.

Molecular Distortion Mortar Ammo

Molecular Distortion Mortar ammos can be found lying around on the battlefield, dropped by the VTOL, or dropped by a ATK-88.

Locations:

HE-Explosive Mortar Cannon:
HE-Explosive Mortar Cannon is equipped to the BFT together with the EFPG.

Molecular Distortion Mortar Cannon:
The Molecular Distortion Mortar Cannon is located at the top of the slope prior to the Power Plant.
Before landing on the shores of the Power Plant area, check the left area after the tight turns guarded by Water Launchers. Turn towards the left, while clearing enemies and turrets, you'll come across 2 shelters. The right one nearest to the tower has the Molecular Distortion Mortar Turret.
Molecular Distortion Mortar Cannon on Dust & Metal

Trivia!

-Mortars fired from ATK-s can be destroyed by the BFT, vice-versa, enemies can destroy mortars fired by you, usually using energy weapons such as Laser Sabres, Arc Sabres, and sometimes even by Lock On Missiles.

-Both the ATK-77 and ATK-88 looks very similar, making it almost impossible to tell the difference between the two tanks.

-The mortar cannons allow you to have a good aim over far targets, such as turrets. Pointing using the cross heirs allows you to have better aims compared to weapons such as Laser Sabres, Arc Sabres, and Mines.
