Proximity High Explosive Mines
|
Proximity Molecular Distortion Mines These Proximity Molecular Distortion Mines can be found in campaigns 2 to 6, they can be obtained from VTOL-s, but are not dropped by Power Planters. |
Locations:
Proximity High Explosive Mine Launcher :
The HE-Mine Launcher can be found in 2 locations in campaign one.
The launcher is hidden in the lighthouse during mission 1, just left of the BFT prior to the beginning of the campaign.
After destroying the lighthouse, head towards the beach and locate the pinkish barrel-like structure on the ground and use it as a ram. Once you have gathered enough speed, drive towards the barrel and you will launch yourself up the platform. Another alternative is by launching a HE-Mortar on the ground, using the crater formed as a form of ram. After succeeding on jumping up onto the platform, slowly move towards the launcher, but be weary of the steep terrain ; you might fall into the water! Grab a Nano-Canister from either the crane that has a crate hanging from it, or from the drainage area near the force field power control. If you happen to fall in the water, hurry and circle the platform of the lighthouse, and make your way back to shore.
Location A of HE-Proximity Mine Launcher, Island Storm Location B is located before the second mission. After hitting the blue switches that grants entry to the missile command posts, the giant door will slowly lowers itself. The pathway between you and the new area of the command post has a wired mesh on the ground. Destroying it will allow you to drop down into the 'basement'. After eliminating a few enemies, you'll see the HE-Proximity Mine Launcher just by the corner. |

Proximity Molecular Distortion Mine Launcher:
The launcher is located at campaign 2, before mission one, with two possible ways go from there.
If you're afraid on missing out on this upgraded version of the HE-Proximity mine, you may towards the north east of the network lab. By sticking close to the walls of the mountains towards the left side, you will notice that there is an opening in the mountain side, just close to the water. You can make a quick jump into the water and track towards dry land. Through a little bit of inspecting, you will find the mine launcher in the middle of the pathway. After obtaining the weapon, you may make your way down towards the path to continue your mission.
The second method, involves having exploring this area once you're equipped with the amphibious technology. During mission 4, from the foundry, you may swim straight towards the opening of the lake, making a right turn before hitting the mountain. You'll encounter a Napalm Turret, and an odd structure there. Swimming towards that direction will lead you to the same location.

Trivia!
-The mines appear to be very small in size, but upon launching, they grow in size, almost 3x it's normal size.
-These mines have limited range of which they can be tossed, often the cross heirs not functioning as well as other projectile weapons like mortars and missiles. This makes it extremely hard to toss mines far. However, pointing the cross hairs up and driving the BFT forward to give a little momentum seems to have an additional distance effect on these mines.
-The mines sometimes explode when enemies are nearby, but no visible, causing recoil damage to the BFT.
-HE-Proximity Mines and mines planted by the Power Planter cannot be differentiated. The only way to differentiate is only by stepping on one.
-The mine launcher uses the same look for all 4 mines in the game, proximity and remote. It would only be logical if the BFT could use one launcher to launch all the 4 different types of mines, rather than finding the specific launchers to perform such functions.
-Proximity Mines can be used to substitute remote mines in mission 4 of campaign 4, Cold Kill Chaos, whereby instead of tossing remote mines into the power plant's vents, you can toss Proximity Mines. However, missing the vent will result in the mines self-detonating.
